The Hetchins Weekend, 2026

The 34th Hetchins event is planned for the third w/e of July, 17-19/7/2026.

All classic and modern-classic bikes, and classic bike enthusiasts, are welcome. This enjoyable event will again be held in the beautiful Oxfordshire countryside near Banbury. Headquartered at the very hospitable Wroxton House Hotel, local attractions include relaxed short and medium rides in the beautiful Cotswolds (avoiding almost all of the hills), historic Hook Norton Brewery, friendly Castle Hotel at Edgehill, cycle jumble, beautiful bikes, and familiar, friendly company. Camping and hotel accommodations are available. We are keeping to the format familiar from the past 3 decades:

Friday 17 July:
afternoon arrivals, check-in to hotel(s) or camp ground, easy ride to local pubs (The Castle at Edgehill, or Moon & Sixpence). Tomfoolery at dinner (Wroxton House Hotel, or the pubs, as you like it).

Saturday 18 July:
late morning assembly at HQ (Wroxton), circumnavigate to lunch stop; circumnavigate to afternoon tea stop; return to HQ or camp, showers, cycle jumble. Evening: dinner at HQ, entertainment programme.

Sunday 19 July:
Several optional programmes: breakfast at Hook Norton Brewery, tour of brewery (stairs!), short ride, longer ride, drive/cycle to Golden Age Cycles (Adderbury) to tour the Gallery.

Digital routes will be available for riders with smartphones/nav-devices. Multiple routes will be available of varying distances, avoiding A- and B-roads where possible. For those who wish to study the terrain in advance, the appropriate OS map is nr. 151, Stratford.

An entry fee of 10 pounds will be levied (to defray organizational costs). Participants ride at their own risk.

HQ (morning start, evening finish, dinner/entertainment): Wrotxon House Hotel. Those wishing accommodations, kindly contact the hotel directly (mention you're part of the cycling event).
